The Nation of Israel Is Under Attack
The Nation of Israel is under attack.
Since May 10th there have been over a thousand rockets fired into Israel by Hamas, a terrorist organization located within the area of the Gaza Strip. Hamas seized control from the Fatah government during the Battle of Gaza in June of 2007. Hamas has been listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, and many other Nations.
The conflict between Israel and the Palestinians has a long and complicated past. I do not pretend to know all the answers in resolving the issues between the Israelis and the Palestinians. However, I feel that I must speak out against the idiocy that is being spewed out toward Israel and their efforts to defend their Nation.
Why are many including some within the United States Congress denying Israel’s right to self-defense? Why are so many seeking to cast blame for these attacks at the feet of the Israeli government? They seem to want people to believe that Israeli citizens including women and children deserve to be killed.
Democratic Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar haven’t been shy about their desire to see the destruction of the sovereign Nation and the United States ally. They have blasted tweet after tweet casting blame on Israel for the rockets that are being fired into the homes, schools, and neighborhoods of Israeli citizens across Israel. They also continue to demand that United States' money for military aid to Israel be stopped.
There is no other nation in the world that would allow its citizens to be killed by rocket attacks. No other nation in the world would sit on their hands and allow their people to be murdered by terrorists or foreign aggressors. There is no other nation in the world that people such as Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and others would expect to show restraint in the face of literally thousands of rockets raining down on its citizens night and day.
Israel has called up over 5,000 ground troops in preparation for a possible ground assault into the Gaza Strip. There is no doubt many lives are at stake. Especially the lives of the innocent civilians living within Gaza whom Hamas has zero concern for. They will be stuck in the crossfire. Hamas continues to use civilians as human shields, placing their rocket sites and other armaments within hospitals, schools, and neighborhoods. The danger is real for the Israeli Defense Forces too.
Israel has been and continues to be one of, if not our strongest allies/ally in the Middle East. The President and Congress would do well to remember that. It’s time for the Politicians in this country to act in a responsible manner. People’s lives are at stake. This is not a game. It’s time for the theatrics of politics to end.
It’s time for common sense to become a bit more common.
